It is always a treat when I get to photograph the wedding of someone I have known for years. This special day at The Emerson Wedding Venue was so fun to be a part of. I have a lot of favorite venues in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, but this one is my absolute favorite, because I got married here in 2021! It holds a special place in my heart. I get excited every time I get to visit for someone else’s special day.
This venue boasts both modern amenities and lovely outdoor space, which can be a hard thing to find. The wedding chapel was designed by Leanne Ford from HGTV’s Fixing it with The Fords and the reception space is a old farmhouse that has been renovated to be both modern and super welcoming on the inside. The bridal suite is located in the main house. You can find the black groom’s cabin next door for the guys to have their own space to chill while getting ready.
I met Bob when I was 18 during my first year at Baylor University. He was a TA in the film department and was a major part of the summer film program I took part in after my first year. If you would have told us I would be photographing his wedding 10 years later, neither of us would have believed you. That was before I had started my photography journey. His sweet partner Caroline is a ray of sunshine. Full of smiles and has the most welcoming personality ever. She was also a Baylor Bear!
These two live together in Boston but both of their families are Texas based. I was honored to help them find a venue that was a good fit for their intimate nuptials. The bride walked down the aisle to a live harp rendition of “Sweet Caroline” which was so appropriate. These two opted for mingling and lawn games instead of a dance floor. The weather was absolutely perfect and everyone enjoyed the back patio and outdoor space The Emerson Wedding Venue had to offer. They ended their night with a combination sparkler/light saber send off, a nod to Bob being a huge Star Wars fan.
Also make sure to appreciate the first look Caroline did with her grandmother below. I have had first looks with grooms, dads, bridal parties, and brothers in the past, but this might be the cutest one ever!
A huge shoutout to my second shooter Lexi for helping me cover this wedding. Congrats again to Mr. & Mrs. Oei-Clark!
