The Hills of Luella Wedding and Event Venue is a classy Amish built barn set on 32 acres. Classy yet rustic, this venue boasts indoor and outdoor ceremony locations, lots of windows for gorgeous indoor photos, and open Texas space to take epic portraits. Most couple’s take advantage of the waterfront gazebo for their ceremony and enjoy the barn for their reception. Rescue horses and the infamous “Donkey” may say hello while you set up for your event. There is even a space next to the barn for fireside socializing and outdoor games.
You will definitely be taken care of by the fabulous staff at this venue. At the helm you will meet Amanda. The creative lead hospitality extrodinaire. Her husband Stacey had a huge part in building and customizing just about every part of the venue. You will find him keeping a close eye on things during your special day and helping move decor and furniture into place.

- Tell us about yourselves and your vision for the venue. Amanda and I still cling to simple small-town traditional country values. We are very blessed to have our venue and we never take that for granted. We believe that life is about loving and serving others.
- How many guests does the venue hold? Our indoor capacity for the barn is 200. Since Texas weather can change by the minute, we say 200 even though our outdoor capacity is much larger.
- What makes the venue unique? 1) We are a real all-wood barn on a real ranch with horses and Donkey, not a barn kit or metal barn wrapped in wood. 2) We, the owners, meet you on the tour and often serve your needs during the event. 3) We encourage our guests to bring their fishing poles. How’s that for unique.
- What is your favorite thing about the venue? The relationships and memories that are made with each person as we prepare and experience their magical day.
- What advice would you give to couples who are planning their wedding? 1) Don’t get derailed with trying to meet others expectation…it’s your event, not theirs. As my wife says, it’s your canvas make it what you want. Too many times, I see couples concerned with meeting the expectation of friends and families, which can sometimes bury them financially. 2) Choose your venue and photographer(s) first, these seems to be the two things that need to be booked far in advance. Plus, these two things can determine the tone and style for the wedding.
- How can couples contact you to tour the venue? We have a “Schedule a Tour” button on our website. They may also call us directly at 903-520-1952, and we will work with them to find the best time.
- Anything else you want to share? Stress normally occurs by events impacting us that our beyond our control. Weddings can definitely be a stressful experience, especially on the financial side. Determine your overall budget early on and get pricing from all types of vendors that you will be hiring. Make adjustments to fit your known current and future spend and stick to it, then enjoy the journey.
Sarah + Matt’s Windy Spring Hills of Luella Wedding
This windy spring Texas Hills of Luella Wedding was so fun and sweet! Sarah and Matt hired me a while back and I was so excited after their fun engagement session to photograph their big day. Full of family and centered on their faith, their wedding day went off without a hitch. The groomsmen donned very smart blue suits that paired well with the lavender details in their boutinieres and ties. The white hydrangeas and plum tones popped against all the green space that The Hills of Luella has to offer.
Sarah was so chill and fun to work with the entirety of her special day! Instead of hiring hair and makeup, she took lessons in how to do her own makeup and hair. She nailed it and I love the idea of learning a skill along the way. Her first look with her dad was so sweet and emotional. I love a good first look!
